welcome

The name House of Freya is inspired by the archetypal energy of the Norse goddess and valkyrie Freya. She embodies strength, resilience and sacred femininity. Freya guides wounded warriors to rest and recover in her sanctuary, Fólkvangr, which is described in the Poetic Edda as a peaceful, expansive meadow filled with flowers.

House of Freya aspires to offer a safe space for embodied healing and transformation, not unlike Fólkvangr. Our mission is to provide free and low cost trauma-informed yoga to help survivors of trauma as they learn to build healthy relationships with their bodies.

We are a welcoming space for all individuals, where everyone’s unique journey is honored and supported.

Impact & Appreciation

“We are incredibly grateful to Ava for the time she set aside each week to lead trauma-sensitive yoga with the kids in our youth crisis residential program. Many of our kids initially felt uncomfortable with yoga due to past traumas or other negative experiences. However, Ava created a warm, supportive environment where the kids felt safe and empowered. Ava’s deep understanding of sensitivities related trauma and its effects on the body, combined with her flexibility and attentiveness to each child’s needs, helped the kids reconnect with their bodies in a gentle, healing way. Thanks to her approach, many youth who were once hesitant of yoga practices left each session with a new appreciation for yoga, seeing it as a valuable tool for relaxation, self-care, and ultimately a newfound sense of agency and empowerment. We are so grateful for the positive impact she has had on our youth and our program and look forward to seeing the impact her gifts have on others’ well-being.”
